TIFF Tagged Image File Format
TIFF is a flexible format used by scanners, publishers and photographers. It can hold uncompressed or losslessly compressed pixels, multiple pages and high bit depths.
TIFF converterAVIF AV1 Image File Format
AVIF stores images with the AV1 video codec. It usually beats WebP on file size, handles HDR and wide colour, and supports transparency. Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari 16+ display it.

Why convert TIFF to AVIF?
TIFF files come from scanners, fax software and print workflows, and a single page can run to tens of megabytes. Files are large and web browsers cannot display TIFF directly. Choose AVIF for the smallest web images, after checking that your CMS or upload target accepts it.
TIFF to AVIF settings
Use the quality slider to balance size against detail; 80 to 90 percent is a good default for AVIF. You can also cap the width and height, which resizes large photos in the same step.
Frequently asked questions
Will the AVIF lose quality?
AVIF uses lossy compression, so some fine detail is discarded to make the file smaller. At the default quality setting the difference is very hard to see. Raise the quality slider if you need the result to stay closer to the TIFF original.
Is transparency kept when converting TIFF to AVIF?
Yes. AVIF supports transparency, so transparent areas in your TIFF stay transparent.
Will the AVIF be smaller than the TIFF?
Usually much smaller for photos: as a rough guide, the AVIF comes out at around 5% of the TIFF's size, depending on the quality setting.
