DashUtils started from a simple annoyance: most online converters make you upload a file to a stranger’s server, wait in a queue, and then trust that the copy gets deleted. For a holiday photo that is a shrug. For a signed contract, a passport scan or a client’s video it is a real risk.
Browsers are now powerful enough to do this work themselves. Every tool here runs on your own device: images are decoded and encoded with the browser’s built-in codecs plus WebAssembly encoders for AVIF and HEIC, PDFs are handled with pdf.js and pdf-lib, video and audio with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, and the background remover uses an open-source AI model that runs on your graphics card.
What that means for you
- Your files are not uploaded, so there is nothing for us to store, leak or sell.
- There are no queues, credits or daily limits. Big batches are limited only by your device.
- Results do not carry watermarks.
How the site is funded
The tools are free and supported by advertising. Ads are kept outside the tool area so they never get in the way of your work, and they never see your files.
How we write and test our guides
Every guide is reviewed and fact-checked by a person against the tools on this site before it is published. When a guide quotes a file size, a time or a quality score, it comes from a conversion we ran ourselves, and the guide says which files and settings we used. We do not publish rewritten versions of other sites’ articles, and we do not accept paid placements in guides.
We correct mistakes as soon as we find them and show an “Updated” date when a guide changes. If you spot an error, tell us on the contact page.
Who is behind DashUtils
DashUtils is built and run by Muhammad Afan, a software engineer who writes the code behind every tool and the guides that go with them. His profile lists his background and everything he has written here.
