Why convert ICO to AVIF?
ICO files are Windows icons and website favicons, and one file often holds several sizes. Icons are limited to 256×256 pixels and must be square. Choose AVIF for the smallest web images, after checking that your CMS or upload target accepts it.

Use the quality slider to balance size against detail; 80 to 90 percent is a good default for AVIF. You can also cap the width and height, which resizes large photos in the same step.
Frequently asked questions
Will the AVIF lose quality?
AVIF uses lossy compression, so some fine detail is discarded to make the file smaller. At the default quality setting the difference is very hard to see. Raise the quality slider if you need the result to stay closer to the ICO original.
Is transparency kept when converting ICO to AVIF?
Yes. AVIF supports transparency, so transparent areas in your ICO stay transparent.
