Smart mode

When the video and audio codecs in your file are already supported by the target container, Smart mode copies them across instead of re-encoding. This is how a 1 GB MOV can become an MP4 in a few seconds. If copying is not possible, the converter re-encodes automatically.

Why is it slower than desktop software?

Browser processing runs on a single CPU thread without hardware encoders. Short clips finish quickly; for long 4K videos, reducing the resolution to 1080p or 720p speeds things up considerably.
